The term literally translates to “light lamps” or “lamps of brightness.” Here's a breakdown of what they are and their significance:

Guangming lamps are oil or electric lamps offered at temples or shrines, often placed in front of statues of Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, or deities. The light is symbolic and carries deep spiritual meaning.

• Light as Wisdom: The lamp represents wisdom that dispels the darkness of ignorance, a core Buddhist teaching.
   
• Guidance: Like a lighthouse in darkness, Guangming lamps symbolize spiritual guidance, showing the way on one's path to enlightenment or inner peace.
